It’s that time of year again. This past Memorial Day weekend officially kicks off the summer barbecue season. But a passion for eating grilled meats is not enough to get you through the season with your family. There are a few things you should know when preparing for a summer barbecue.
Background Prep
Frequently, the host is a friend of only you or your wife, not the both of you. So it is important that you get prepped on the background of the home owner. You don’t want to walk into the situation unprepared. Likewise, if you are the one that knows the host, prep your wife. Items to discuss beforehand: how many kids, what do they do for work, who are they friends with, etc. It never hurts to prepare. Noodad wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company’s party. Noodad is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn’t taste like alcohol at all. He didn’t even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did something wrong.
Noodad had to force himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins next to a glass of water on the side table.
And, next to them, a single red rose!! Noodad sits up and sees his clothing
in front of him, all clean and pressed.
He looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is the rest of the house!!!
He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror.
Then he notices a note hanging on the corner of the mirror written in red with little hearts on it and a kiss mark from his wife in lipstick:
‘Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to get groceries to make you your favorite dinner tonight.

Where there is beer, there are spills. And if you are like me, you need to get those beer stains out of your carpet. My beer stains come from the fact that my poker table, although equipped with drink holders, are not build for beer bottles. 3 spills later, I needed a fix to get those stains out before my wife surveyed the damage. Say you are enjoying a nice and spicy curry dish. Maybe you downed some habanero pepper poppers or ate a few dozen buffalo wings. That edible inferno may have tasted awesome going in but you know that eventually it will burn on the way out.

Throwing a football is one of manhood’s biggest challenges. But there are tons of different techniques that you may have heard depending on who you ask. Where throwing a baseball tends to have a more defined set of methods, a football can be hurled a number of ways with great success. For proof compare the way Brett Favre and Tom Brady throw the ball.

Check out this beauty! A mash-up between a Krups coffee machine and a Heineken Draught Keg (you’ve seen the fembots commercial)…it will keep a 5-liter Heineken keg cold and tasting bar-fresh for up to 30 days and the top of the line version (not pictured) sports an LCD command center. This in my Man Cave would be enough to make me a Heineken guy 24/7/365 (does that constitute alcoholism?!).
Already on sale in Europe, Krups and Heineken debuted it in the US this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It goes on sale in April and will set you back about $400. You can read more at Engaget.
We’ve seen Heineken kegs for ~$18-22 and they will give you ~10 pints. Do the easy math - that’s about $2 per pint. Can’t beat that!

Superheros rule. Accept for Aqua Man (don’t get me started). Superheros battling each other rules more.
Pre-internet, you had to wait until Saturday morning to see the super-powered duke it out. Apparently, The Hall of Justice is a part-time gig! But with your trusty web browser (or even better/easier, that ever effective RSS reader on your utility belt) and thesuperest.com, you can watch an almost daily duel unfold on your desktop.

In the latest episode of Man Caves on the DIY network, the show hooked up this guy with a Vegas style room with a custom poker table. It is pretty sweet and does not look terribly difficult if you are somewhat handy.
