Being a dad means an increasingly complex web of finances - multiple bank accounts, life insurance, IRAs, 529 accounts, credit cards in the hands of kids, and with all of that comes all of the financial paperwork and transactions to support it. Cause and effect being at play here, that means you’re also increasingly vulnerable to account abuse and identity theft. Being Noodads, you of course are smart enough to know you don’t write down internet passwords and you shred your sensitive mail…but does that go far enough? Security experts would say no.
I know that so I was doing some research online about credit checks and credit monitoring services…specifically interested in Life Lock. Life Lock is the company founded by that guy who plasters his Social Security Number on TV and buses. Turns out that his life wasn’t “locked” - some dude in TX was able to open a bank account using his SSN. Little piece of advice…don’t dare cheats - they have the time and the wherewithal to %^$# you. Life Lock is also being sued by several states. You can read all about it in this New York Times article.
As far as I can tell only two kinds of people wear Crocs sandals - rotund, boisterous celebrity chefs represented by Mario Batali and kids.
Why Mario wears Crocs is beyond me but then again, I guess open toe footwear is in line with a certain je ne sais quio mentality from a guy who wears shorts in a professional kitchen. Kids wear Crocs because they make sense for a lot of reasons - they’re grippy on wet surfaces, are light weight and anti-microbial not to mention totally intriguing to kids in the same way Heinz Green Catsup is.
And parents seem to have no problem buying Crocs for kids despite their…um…unique…styling. It’s amazing how “honey I shrunk the kids” sizing can make even something fugly exceedingly cute. I count myself among that group of parents. And so far so good…but a Noodad reader aleted me to an article in yesterday’s Hartford Courant that had us contemplating pulling the footwear from rotation.

We’re bigger, deffer, and bloggier than ever. Why did we make a change? For one, we have been serving you critical dad advice for close to 2 years now in our old look and frankly, we wanted a change. The other thing is we found that there were times when we just wanted to share some remotely-dad related content but didn’t feel we had the right forum or structure of the site to deliver it.
So you will be seeing a lot more content coming your way. And by a lot more, I mean more poker more beer, more videogames, and way more pictures of hot pregnant chicks. You will find Noodad.com to be deffer than ever but like L.L. Cool J said, “Don’t call this a comeback. We’ve been here for years.”
Enjoy!
-Noodad
When we initially founded noodad.com, it was meant to be more of a magazine site, but then as we got to know our readers and we started to try to make it more conversational. Early last year Noodad and I decided that noodad.com would work better as a blog. We found the Joomla platform to be very feature rich, but about as flexible as the Soviet Cold War regime.
We wanted noodad.com to be easier to navigate. We wanted you to be able to dive into the archives to see all of the stuff we had written. We found that most people who came to the site were not necessarily going past the first page, or the article they initially came to see. The new wordpress site gives multiple ways to get to the content. We are now offering both article and comment subscriptions via feedburner (make sure you update your feed link).
If you click on an author avatar or name, you will go to a page where you can browse that author’s articles. You can also browse by category or by month. The search box is also a tad better than the Joomla search box, but we are still looking in to other search options. We look forward to continuously improving the experience of our noodad.com readers over the coming years. As always, you can post a comment to let us know what you think and to feed us your comments and ridicule.
After 4 months of content and lots of love from other sites, we felt it was time to return the favor. The following are a bunch of sites that dig what we do and we dig them for digging us. So after you spend some time getting through our site, take a side trip to these guys. They offer great content for parents and most specifically dads. Enjoy!
