Disney has banned smoking in its films. They have also taken the initiative to add anti-smoking public service announcements to their DVDs as well as to pre-movie entertainment.

Unnnnh? Did I read this correctly? A big corporation acting responsibly? As an open opponent to smoking, I feel like Homer in the Land of Chocolate.

We all know that media is influential and blah blah blah, but dare I dream that this is a step towards banning smoking from everywhere forever? Can I finally breathe deeply on my morning walk to work without some asshole's second hand smoke spoiling it for me?
It does not look that way. I have not found any indication that they are changing their smoking policy in their parks from "designated areas" to "none at all". This is not a major sacrifice by the organization, but a powerful message that smoking is not acceptable or tolerated by a company whose name is synonymous with family entertainment.
