Lego Porn
Posted on 01 30, 2008 under Current Events by foodad | CommentsIt’s Lego’s 50th anniversary. Everyone is excited about it. Even Google did a Lego logo which tells you the overall significance and influence of the toy on the population at large. Gizmodo, another internet dynamo, did a story on the top 50 Lego sets of all time.
My brother and I were Lego junkies. We were more into the plain blocks than the sets, but we did manage to get ourselves a castle and some space legos. These facilitated inventing Transformers long before Optimus Prime hit the market. We would build ships that we could turn into robots out of Legos. The challenge of course was keeping these en tact as overall our Lego resources were not infinite and we both had a large desire to destroy one guys Krakkarakon to build our Lazatronatar.
Noodad busted out his old space Legos set a couple of months back. He brought them into the office and we took some (lunch) time to build a few vehicles and wax nostalgic about the days when Legos were arguably the most important things in our lives. Legos challenge you creatively and analytically and while today’s Legos are heavily branded, I think that kids, like my brother and I once did, eventually throw all the pieces in one big box and build whatever they want. My brother and I really would have liked that Star Destroyer or Millenium Falcon set though. The truth is that I think I still would.
