NBA Dad Gives Up Game for Daughter

Some people are given gifts by [insert higher power here] to do things that none of us mere mortals can do. Fewer of them have the opportunity to take their gifts to the main stage and live out their dreams. The stakes in professional sports are very high and there is a small window of opportunity to take advantage of athletic talents while they are young. So when the Utah Jazz's Derek Fischer's daughter's life was jeopardized by cancer in her left eye, what did he do?
He put his daughter first.
In May, Fischer's daughter was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a cancer of the eye that could potentially spread to her brain. Fischer is now looking to relocate to a city where his daughter can receive the best possible treatment and he can look after her. He has not totally given up on his dream, not ruling out playing for another NBA team, but he acknowledges that retirement is a distinct possibility and is willing to walk away.
