Noodad Product Review: The EyeClops Night Vision Goggles

Today I’m going to review the EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles by Jakks Pacific.

This is a toy for kids 8 and over. But don’t let the “toy” name fool you. These goggles give you an authentic night vision experience for a fraction of the cost of professional night vision goggles.

In absolute darkness, these night vision goggles will give you visibility to up to 50 feet. This is perfect for whatever covert operations your kids can dream up. But you will probably want to buy a pair for yourself because if you are like me, once you put these badboys on your face, you are going to want to go on a special mission of your own.

These goggles have tons of options and features. There are 2 viewing modes: Surveillance and Stealth. In Surveillance Mode, the goggles operate at full power and emit a visible ring of red light. Sort of looks like Capt. Picard being assimilated by the Borg. This is perfect for long range night vision. In Stealth Mode, the goggles operate at partial power and generate light that the naked eye cannot detect. This is helpful in close proximity situations. The goggles also have a color switch that allows you to switch between a green or black and white display.

The rubberized straps and liners allow for a snug and fairly comfortable fit. The straps are long enough to fit almost every size head. The goggles require 5 AA batteries that are installed in a battery pack at the back of the head strap. Although this pack is weighed down by the batteries, it is barely felt when worn around your head in the correct position.

I tried these goggles out with my kids and even though they were younger than the recommended 8 years old, they got a kick out of “seeing int he dark”. But the real fun part was the ability to scare them in a great session of hide and seek. Admittedly, the idea of turning off all the lights in your house and having your kids run around was dangerous in retrospect, it was a lot of fun.

These goggles are affordable and work as advertised. And at a suggested retail price of $79.99, these goggles are just the right price to outfit your entire family. I give it a 5 out of 5.
