Noodad Proflowers Valentines Flower Giveaway! WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Posted on 02 02, 2009 under Her by schneidermike | View Comments

picture-13Noodads, Valentines day is nearly upon us! It’s time again to do something for our wives, girlfriends, boyfriends or uh.. other husbands to show them how much we care, support and stimulate the econpicture-12omy and maybe create a romantic moment that they will remember for at least the rest of their week.

Our friends at proflowers.com have offered Noodad and I five gift certificates each valued at $70 to give to our readers. The contest? I wanted to have 50 dads give up all of their personal possessions and be taken to an island where they compete in physical challenges against one another and vote off the losers, but Noodad said it had already been done. He is not as into my ideas since the time I insisted that noodad.com would become the single greatest site of all time if he took the hormones so that he could breast feed his third baby (and let me video him 24/7). It would have been so awesome, like Big Brother awesome.

Contest details after the break!!!

How to Enter the Contest

What? The contest? RIGHT!! It could not be any easier. The contest is to share your most creative/romantic use of flowers in your relationship. Are you a rose giver? Do you prefer tulips? Orchids? Some noodads are not as creative as you, and for the ones who are not, you can just comment with your significant other’s preference for flowers. It is also acceptable to leave a great, romantic idea that you have for giving flowers. In other words

  • Leave a comment on this post
  • Make it about a creative or romantic event using flowers OR
  • Tell us about your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend or husband’s floral preference (what kind).
  • We will draw a winner at random

That’s all you need to do. Leave the comment on this post. Comments on other posts will not count as valid entries. Entries must have something to do with flowers and noodad.com reserves the right to disqualify any entries (this is primarily for spammers).

Be sure to leave a valid email address in the comments. Have your comments in by February 7. One entry per person. Writers of noodad.com may enter (not Noodad and foodad). We will draw the winner’s names randomly on February 8th, in plenty of time for Valentine’s day. Good luck noodads and have fun! Noodad.com reserves to right to disqualify anyone from the contest as well as change the rules without written notice, although we do not anticipate doing so. Need inspiration? I suggest checking out ProFlowers.com.

Funny thing about flowers...they make all the bad things go away. Let me explain. My father (who has passed) was a real "player" (back in the day it was called something different). My mother knew it, but he brought her a dozen red roses every single weekend!!! And they stayed married - until death did they part.....

There once was a butcher name Rose
    whose carving prowess was known
But he ate what he killed
So his rep' he did build
    But this rhyme certainly blows!

Hey, I'd love one of the ProFlowers coupons to get my love some lovely Violets.

  • I've loved reading the comments on this contest. What a great way to engage your readers and give them a little something nice for Valentine's Day.

This is my sister's first valentine's day after the divorce, so I'd use it to send her flowers from my son (her favorite little man) to cheer her up.

    thanks!
  • Laura, I love that idea!

Flowers.....why is it they have become such an expensive gift that people aren't able to give "just because" anymore. I remember when my husband used to send me bouquets of Blue Iris to my office. They would light up my whole day. Roses are beautiful, sure, but typical. The Blue Iris just has the right color to catch your eye. Honestly, I think they're so amazing because they look like big markers when you get them and then bloom into this amazing flower. I would love to send a beautiful bouquet of them to my parents. They have been through quite a bit the last few years and I realized that the smallest things can brighten their day - all day. My parents are always ones to say - no, don't spend money on that. But what can they say when something arrives at their door? You just know that when they gets the flowers, they will smile and light up as it blooms on their dining table from just blue tip markers to a beautiful bouquet. That's worth it all! P.S. Noodad rocks! :)

I've always wanted to plant a garden with bulbs and anticipate the "oooh" and "ahhh" factor when they sprang up and spelled out 'I love you" in tulips or something. Never had the patience though. My husband has been the recipient of many a cookie bouquet from me but I bet he'd really love the oh so traditional roses for a change. Me? Tiger lilies.

  • I have been digging around in my memory bank for a good story and I'm not sure I have anything specifically about flowers on Valentines Day. My wife does, however, love grasses, prairies and fields of daisies. About 2 weeks ago we went over to Harris Lake and I shot some video of her and our 20 month old daughter playing in the fields. I am going to try and video another one for Valentines Day (the day I proposed to her, still no flower story though) but I wont have it finished by the time this contest is over. So will my video from last week count?

Last year I got my wife a potted orchid because it looked neat and was a departure from the usual Valentines Day cliches. She loved it and as a bonus it survived well into autumn with minimal care!

I have surprised my wife on odd occasions with a yellow/orange/peach rose circlet. She can wear it to the dinner and not have to wonder where it is. People come up to here every time asking if she just got married. I mix up the flower choices but I rely on my florist to make it happen.

My wife adores orchids, but since we are a single income family with a newborn - I've never been able to get them for her. Maybe with this, I could.

    thanks

My husband is a sweetheart. 26+ years, 4 kids, and he's still adorable. He knows how I love tulips and daisies, really all flowers except spider mums.

When my girlfriend (now Wife) and I were celebrating our 6 year dating anniversary, I bought 6 dozen red roses. Not the expensive kind, mind you, the $9.99 a dozen type (I think they are $12.99 these days, this was in 2002). We only owned two vases at the time, so like 3 dozen ended up in a bucket on the table for a couple of weeks. It was kind of funny to see my romantic gesture end up in the device we use to mop the kitchen. Now a days she prefers more exotic flowers, orchids and birds-of-paradise.

  • I learned early in marriage that my wife loves Daisies. So, we have a huge bed of daisies out front of our house. I like to find unique colors of daisies and get them for her at times she wouldn't expect them. She's always surprised because it's usually not just because of a holiday or anniversary.

When my wife and I started dating I was in the Navy and she was in college, so we were living about 1100 miles apart. Many times after I would visit her I would get home missing her terribly and send her a dozen roses. I always sent them to her room because I just knew one of her friends would see them and tell her that she just HAD to go back to her room for something, and there they would be. Well we have been married for about seven and a half years now, and while she did get flowers a few times shortly after we got married I hate to say it but it has been a long time since she has gotten flowers from me. We now have a three month old daughter, and after typing this all out it makes me think I need to get some flowers for both my girls...
  • That was soooooooo sweet!
  • Jean D.
My boyfriend loves tulips, daffodils, and irises. Springtime--for Hitler--and boyyyy-friend!

    Love this giveaway. Thanks!

My wife prefers plants- why buy something that is going to die she yells- hey that plant eventually does- hey she bought me and eventually I will go away!
  • Andy
I'm lacking in the creative department, but I am well-aware of the fact that my wife likes tulips and daisies and baby's breath as her favorites and she's threatened me with a severe beating if I ever buy her spider mums or gladiolas which she considers funeral flowers.
  • Scott Dumais
I love my wife with all my heart. I entered this contest because I know a friend will also enter the contest and will spend a TON of time trying to be creative and tell everyone how much he loves his wife. Bottom line is simple...I love my wife more and do not need flowers to prove it! I would love to surprise my wife with flowers, and if I am picked at random I hope I qualify to win this contest. Simply pit...this is my wife's ONLY shot at getting flowers! (fingers are crossed!)

I bought my wife roses when we were dating and she threw them down the stairs at me because I was two hours late and had been out with my buddies. After she threw them at me, I knew I wanted to marry her.
