If it were as simple as you suggest, I\'d take the tax break most years. First of the century or decade? Then we\'ll talk.

You\'ve also got to consider that the 30 seconds of local news fame will come on New Year\'s Day, a day when most people are hungover, watching football, or both. No one much cares about local news that day and on many channels it will come on at weird times around football.

Additionally, when deciding whether you\'d want a 12/31 or 1/1 baby think about the state/school district you\'re in. My home town had a 12/31 birthdate cutoff for kindergarten enrollment. Thus, the oldest kids in a grade were the January babies and the youngest were the Decembers. Do you want your kid to be the big kid of the little kid? I was a little kid and got by just fine... Of course, from what I understand most schools operate on an August or September cutoff.
