Team Noodad.com Kicks Heartbreak Hill’s Ass!

Well,
we did it. The valiant members of Team Noodad.com yesterday completed
and defeated the fabled Boston Marathon course in a team record 9 hours
on Sunday, September 17. The 26.2 mile course put up a good fight,
throwing all it had at Team Noodad.com in an effort to make us submit.
We battled angry, intolerant Boston drivers at many intersections,
tackled some steep thigh-burning inclines, and persevered through the
fetid odors of poodad stew baking in the rank plastic ovens known as
Port-A-Johns.
After crossing the finish line in Copley Square we tallied up our
wounds. Nicole, our lone team member of the fairer sex, tallied six
blisters (which all broke during the final 6 miles—Yay!), achy feet,
and pain behind the right knee. Our erstwhile site cofounder Noodad
gimped under the finish banner with right knee pain. Wahoodad’s brother
Don, our Living Proof (cancer survivor) team member who led the charge,
opted for shorts with pockets instead of gym shorts and paid for his
poor wardrobe choice with severe beach sand-in-the-suit like chafing.
Don also found a nasty blood blister on his heel when he finally took
off his sneakers. I incurred one blister, an aching left foot, and sore
right thigh. Despite these injuries, the entire team vowed to return
again next year to walk and raise money for the Jimmy Fund.
When I set up our team goals on the Jimmy Fund Walk website, I hoped to
recruit eight team members and to raise a combined $2,000. Although we
set out with fewer team members, we beat our fund raising total
handily. Team Noodad.com has raised a whopping $2,400 so far, with more
donations on the way. (Team Noodad.com can still add to the total until
November, so if you’d like to help please visit www.jimmyfundwalk.org/teamnoodad and follow the instructions to donate online).
Thanks to all the members of Team Noodad.com for making the 2006 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk a huge success.

Just wanted to add that Dave Caolo from Daddy Daze also raised money and walked for Team Noodad.com. He started at the halfway mark and we failed to connect with him before he set out. Thanks Dave!
