See, your wife probably read in some parenting magazine that the key to a successful potty training is to embrace the topic of taking a dump and to talk about it with your kids without any type of shame. To me, I take that as permission to revert to that special place in every guy’s heart called potty humor.

Readying the Nest

You’ll notice many quirky behaviors by your spouse during her pregnancy, many of them hormonally driven. Whether you like it or not, you’ll be affected by these behaviors, too.  Around the fifth month (on average, but can occur later in some women) you’ll take part in a phenomenon known as “nesting”.

Nesting refers to a mother’s innate response to prepare your offspring’s habitat prior to birth and it is something humans share with other members of the animal kingdom. Turn on Animal Planet or The Discovery Channel and you’ll see some examples.

Bringing Indoor Toys Outside

Now that Spring is here, the birds are chirping, and the weather is warmer. This means our kids will be spending more time outside. Outdoor play can be filled with many great things — feeling the sun, digging dirt, shooting hoops, and the ice cream truck to name a few. But for parents it could bring headaches. Every time I visit the local grocery store major retail brands make a small contribution to my child’s college fund. It comes in nickels and dimes, often with little initiative on my part.
