We had actually shot a mother skunk once on our farm (was getting into the chicken coops and spraying – really big mess cleaning chickens) and she had a baby behind her.

I think they hang around and night & if you come down the stairs and in any way startle them, they spray. Our front door has a mail slot…which the smell seeps through and permeates most of our downstairs. It's a treat. Our new front door will be without that mail slot, that's a fact.

I suppose the next time I move I should pay attention to the fauna in the area, I wouldn't enjoy having skunks as my neighbors. I loved the little “kittens” tell, it's the funniest thing I've read lately.
